Travel Support:
Early-Career Support and Rising Star Program
The generous support of IUCr and AsCA means that some limited funds are available to help students and post-docs to attend AsCA'13 through a contribution towards their travel expenses. The travel support awards will only be paid if the successful applicants present their work in person at the meeting, either orally or as a poster. In AsCA'13 the program committee will also select a number of abstracts from young scientists as Oral Presentations from 'Rising Stars' - up to one speaker per Micro-symposium. The selected speakers will have US$200 waived from their registration fee, (i.e. free for students, 50% for post-docs) and may also be eligible for the Early Career Travel Support.

Early Career Scientist Travel Support will be available to currently-enrolled graduate students or early-career researchers, who received their higher degree in 2010 or later. Selected applicants will be given bursaries for reimbursement of their travel and accommodation costs (in exceptional cases up to max. US$1,000) The distance from the venue and cost of travel will affect the amount awarded. Note the money cannot be given in advance and will be only be given to awardees at the registration desk during the AsCA meeting. |

Early career scientists who apply for travel support may also apply for the AsCA Rising Stars program. If those who are awarded the travel support are selected as an AsCA Rising Stars speaker, they will be further supported by reimbursement of the registration fee at the Registration Desk. |

Applications from all regions are welcome. However, preferences will be given to applications from Asian countries other than Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Korea for the travel support from the AsCA fund. |

"AsCA Rising Stars" was originally introduced in AsCA'09 meeting in which six young speakers were selected from the submitted abstracts to participate in a special symposium. In Hong Kong the program committee may chose will chose no more than one young speaker per Micro-symposium. |

In addition to abstract submission, a letter must be provided by the young scientist's supervisor requesting that he/she be considered for the Rising-Star program and confirming their eligibility. The supervisor must then ensure that any young scientist they are recommending comes well prepared for a 15-min talk. |
